A: During our first 2-hour meeting, I will listen to your goals, assess your needs, and offer unbiased advice, recommendations and referrals to move your project forward.

Q: What are the benefits of your consulting services?

A: Renovating or building a home is a complex and expensive process. It requires assembling a great team and navigating countless critical decisions over an extended period of time. Whether you engage me for a few initial hours at the start of the project, or bring me on board for expanded services during the project, my expert advice helps ensure a successful outcome. I’ll help you assemble the best possible design and construction team. I will be your unbiased representative, your advocate, and your sounding board. If a “second opinion” is called for, I’ll be there with objective insights.  And, with over 25 years of experience in this field, I can offer advice on all aspects – and at every stage -- of the project.


 Q: I’m not certain if your services are necessary for my project. Do you offer an initial phone conversation?

A: Yes, I offer an initial complimentary phone conversation. This helps me understand your project and lets me explain my services in detail. After the call, you’ll understand how I can help.

Q: I plan to remodel my kitchen and bathroom. Do you consult on small projects?

A: Yes, I advise on all renovations and remodeling, large or small.


Q: Do you produce plans, construction details, and other drawings?

A: My service is a consultation service only. I advise in all areas of design and construction and recommend architects, designers, contractors, and other professionals who will prepare your drawings and construction documents.

Q: What business relationship do you have with the companies you recommend?

A: My recommendations are unbiased and impartial, based on the needs of your project.  I recommend professionals solely on the quality of their work and their compatibility with your needs. I have no business relationship with the companies I refer and receive no compensation for my referrals.

I have worked with many of these professionals; all have solid reputations in the industry.

Q: Will you prepare a written report after our consultation?

A: After our meeting, I will send you an email of the companies I recommend. It will include a list of any referred specialists and their contact information. This summary is included in the cost of my initial 2-hour consultation. You are welcome to take notes during the consultation.


 Q: I have several design and construction estimates that differ widely and I don’t know which one is most realistic. Can you help?

A: Estimates may differ for many reasons; I will review all proposals and help you understand why your bids do not align. I will also recommend a strategy to help bring the project in on budget. You may use me as a sounding board before you make any decisions.

 Q: My construction has been going on forever and it doesn’t look like it’s going to end any time soon. How can you help?

A: I am available to meet with your team as your advocate and assess the reason(s) for the delay. As an impartial mediator, I will work with you to resolve the issues and get the project back on track.

Q: We will be out of town during construction. Can you be our representative?

A: Yes, I will be your “eyes and ears” while you are away and will advocate for you in all designated matters.

Q: What are your hourly rates?

A: Please call me or email to discuss my hourly rates and the details of my services. I do not charge for the initial phone conversation.


Q: Do you have a minimum meeting time for consultation?

A: The first consultation is a minimum of 2 hours. Should you require further services from me, my time will be billed at an hourly rate.  A minimum expenditure will not apply.

Q: So, we can meet with you only once and not again?

A: I have an initial 2-hour minimum, but you are under no obligation to continue with my services after the first meeting.


 Q: Do you charge for providing a referral list and contact information?

A: The list I provide is included as part of my initial 2-hour consultation. There is no separate charge for this service.

 Q: Will I be charged for written email correspondence and phone consultations?

A: I offer an introductory phone conversation at no charge. After that, all written correspondence and phone consultations are billed at my hourly rate.

Q: I want to buy a house to renovate. How can you help?

A: There are two ways I can help you. As a licensed real estate agent with TTR Sotheby’s International Realty, I can represent you and help you find the perfect home to purchase. Alternatively, I can visit the properties you are considering and help you assess the scale, budget, and timeframe of the renovation you have in mind.

I also have more than 25 years experience in design, and construction. I have a "designers eye" and the knowledge, know-how and insights to identify properties that will suit your specific needs.


Q: What are the advantages of engaging you to sell our home?

A: My experience in design and construction allows me to enthusiastically present your home to potential buyers with unique knowledge and insight. I can highlight the merits of your home in ways other realtors may not.


Q: I am planning to sell my house and need advice on what improvements would make the property more attractive for sale.

A: I am available on an hourly basis to offer recommendations on how to improve your home to make it more attractive for sale. I am also a licensed real estate sales associate with TTR Sotheby’s International Realty and can represent you in the sale of your home. If I represent you, I will advise on all aspects of the sale and no hourly consultation rate will apply.
